Scheduling routine Mazda maintenance can make all the difference when it comes to the safety, comfort, and efficiency of your vehicle. It’s also important to familiarize yourself with proper car care practices, so you can keep your vehicle running smoothly for a long time to come. Learn about the impact of using E15 gas in your engine with help from Hall Mazda Virginia Beach.

What is E15 Gasoline?

Before you can determine if E15 gasoline is the right option for your vehicle, it’s useful to understand what it is and what kind of cars it is for. E15 gasoline is called such because it is 85% petroleum and 15% ethanol. You’ll typically find it at the gas station under the label of Unleaded 88, and it is considered a greener alternative to many other fuel options because of the ethanol content. While it is not required for gas stations to carry E15, it can be found in over 31 states across the country because of incentives offered to help encourage greener driving.

Should I Use E15 Gasoline in My MAZDA Vehicle?

There is a series of regulations in place for which vehicles can use E15 gasoline. Specifically, it is limited to cars from 2001 or newer, and should never be used for motorcycles, boats, or off-road vehicles. Additionally, Mazda owners will want to pause at the gas station, as well. The Skyactiv® technology in your Mazda powertrain system is rated for a maximum ethanol percentage of just 10%, and E15 could be damaging to parts within the powertrain system.
