Listen, you don’t just want a car, you want the best car, right? How does the Car of the Year sound? Not good enough? Okay. How about the 2016 World Car of the Year? Better? We thought so. Well, in that case, head in to Hall Mazda Virginia Beach and test drive the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata.

The title of World Car of the Year has been around since 2004, established by an international group of automotive journalists. This year, the panel of judges was comprised of 73 journalists from 23 different countries. After all, a global award requires a global perspective. Masahiro Moro, President and CEO, Mazda North American Operations, and Managing Executive Officer, Mazda Motor Corporation, was ecstatic about the award, saying “As our iconic MX-5 roadster approaches one-million units of production, this award is proof that it is as young, vibrant, fun and relevant as ever. We say ‘Driving Matters’ in our advertising, and we prove it in our cars.”

It’s true. The 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata is one of our favorite cars to drive here at our dealership near Norfolk, VA. Weighing in at only 2,332 pounds, the Mazda MX-5 Miata is proof that less is more, delivering 155 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque in its compact package. To lighten the load even further, the car features a new 6-speed manual transmission that is both smaller and lighter than the previous version, without sacrificing short-throw precision. And of course, if manual isn’t your thing, you can opt for the 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

With racing in its heritage and in its bones, the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata is an amazing roadster you won’t ever want to put in park. And for something a little more down to earth, but every bit as capable, check out our full assortment of new Mazda sedans. We’ll see you soon!
